If you’re wiring an aftermarket ECU to the 4E-FTE engine then using the ECU manufacturers user manual along with the specific information below should help you get it wired and configured. If you have any questions or suggestions then please get in touch.
4E-FTE Distributor
4E-FTE Distributor Pinout Diagram (24 Tooth & Cam Sync)
When wiring a standalone ECU to use the stock 4E-FTE distributor/cam sensor you can use the following pinout for the connector. For 99% of people the cam sensor wired this way is perfectly acceptable way to run the car, even for big power goals!
Connector Pin | Link ECU Connection | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Link ECU Connector A – Pin 8 | Trig 1 – 24 Tooth (NE) |
2 | N.C. (Not connected) | (G1) |
3 | Link ECU Connector A – Pin 9 | Trig 2 – Cam Sync (G2) |
4 | Link ECU Connector A – Pin 7 | Shield / Sensor Ground (G-) |
4E-FTE Distributor Pinout Diagram (Cam Sync only – Additional Crank Trigger)
If you are running a crank sensor with missing teeth along with the cam/distributor sensor, you can use pins 3 and 4 as the Cam Sync in order to run sequential ignition/injection.

4E-FTE Stock Ignition Coil & Ignitor
The stock coil is capable of a lot of power so if it’s in good working order then there is really no reason to replace it.

Honda K20 Ignition Coil
This connector accepts 3 wires – Ignition Signal, Ground & 12V+ Power. The pinout and dwell information can also be found on the Haltech Website Here
Pin | Description |
---|---|
1 | ECU Ignition Output/Signal |
2 | Ground to Cylinder Head |
3 | Ignition switched 12V+ Power (15amp AM2 fuse) |

Honda K20 Ignition Coil – ECU Config & Dwell Table
K20 coils are smart coils where the ignitor is inside of the coil itself. In Link ECU the Spark Edge should be set to Falling edge. Selecting incorrect settings will damage the coil and possibly the ECU.
